Despite Vice President Kamala Harris’ loss in the 2020 election, the joint fundraising committee set up with the Democratic National Committee is still charging monthly recurring donors. Some donors are upset and believe it is exploiting their loyalty. The practice of continued donations after a campaign’s end is a controversial issue in online fundraising, particularly with the tactics used by the Trump campaign. The Harris Victory Fund has now been shut down and donations go directly to the DNC, raising ethical concerns about redirecting funds without Harris’ access. While some believe it is acceptable to continue recurring donations for the benefit of the party, others argue it is unethical and a best practice to stop after Election Day.
