GOP poll shows Georgia Republican Gov. Brian Kemp leading Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff in a hypothetical matchup for the 2026 Senate race. Ossoff also leads other potential GOP candidates in double digits. Kemp, the most popular Republican official in the state, has not announced his plans for 2026 but has expressed interest in a 2028 presidential run. The 2026 Senate map is small and Georgia is a top pickup opportunity for the GOP. Kemp and President Trump had a turbulent relationship, but have since reconciled. Ossoff won election in 2021 after a tight runoff against GOP Sen. David Perdue, and previously ran for a House seat in 2017. Trump won Georgia in 2020, but Ossoff’s favorability is at 45 percent compared to Kemp’s 58 percent and Trump’s 48 percent.
