In the wake of the tumultuous U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, a resolute and bipartisan group of House members is sending a powerful message to our allies: We remain steadfast in our commitment to securing the resources and support you rightfully deserve.
“We will not relent,” declared Rep. Michael Waltz (R-Fla.) during a gathering convened by the For Country Caucus, composed of military veterans. “We will not forget. And to our Afghan allies, who may still be out there: We stand by your side, and we will leave no stone unturned in our fight.”
Their mission centers on the passage of the bipartisan Afghan Adjustment Act, a crucial piece of legislation designed to offer a pathway to permanent U.S. residency for the allies who were evacuated from Afghanistan as the nation withdrew in 2021.
“This bill—long overdue and urgently needed—is a testament to our unwavering commitment to those who stood with us during our overseas missions,” emphasized Rep. Jeff Jackson (D-N.C.). “It’s not a complex issue. It transcends partisan lines. It’s an initiative that should have been realized long ago.”
With determination in their hearts, these lawmakers are dedicated to ensuring that those who risked everything for the cause are given the support and protection they deserve.
