Stacey Abrams was once considered a potential vice presidential candidate, but Kamala Harris ultimately got the spot. Now, their fates are intertwined as Harris tries to replicate Biden’s victory in Georgia, largely credited to Abrams’ vision and fundraising abilities. However, Abrams’ political brand has suffered since her loss in the 2022 gubernatorial race and her nonprofits are struggling. Some doubt her ability to be a decisive political force in this election. Despite their parallel paths, Abrams and Harris have had little interaction. Abrams’ upbringing and background are different from Harris’, but they have both been seen as trailblazing Black women in the party. Abrams’ nonprofits have received a significant amount of funding, but smaller grassroots organizations have been left out. Whether Georgia stays blue is uncertain, but Abrams believes her past campaigns have laid the groundwork for change.
