Faiz Shakir, former manager of Bernie Sanders’ 2020 presidential campaign, has entered the race for chair of the Democratic National Committee. He is frustrated with the party’s lack of vision and conviction and believes they need to focus on winning back the diverse working class by offering new and substantive ideas. Despite a late entrance, Shakir plans to turn the DNC into an organizing army with its own media outlet. He faces tough competition from other candidates with high-profile endorsements and locked-in support from DNC members. Shakir will not be participating in the second forum, but has two more scheduled in January.
